Go to Frisco is  zé dos bois project for Sister Spaces, in Southern Exposure, San Francisco.

Sister Spaces is a meeting between so called independent or alternative spaces, organized by 

Southern Exposure, that has as a goal the contact with different artistic realities. Sister 

Spaces is an exhibition, a series of talks/conferences and the edition of a trilingual 

catalogue - English, Chinese and Portuguese.

Southern Exposure is a non governmental organization, that for about 25 years has made fine 

art exhibitions, conferences and debates, performances, art talks and educational programs, 

in a work aimed at the community.

Go to Frisco intent is to allow the contact with the diversity of Portuguese artistic creation. 

In a connection between Lisbon and San Francisco, that portraits the affinities and physical 

and urban differences between the two cities.

The installation has a material  and a virtual space. It is mutant, permeable and collective.



MATERIAL SPACE

Portuguese artists video-art program. Each video is screened during one day and can only be seen again 

once more during the duration of the exhibition. 

2. zdbmüzique à la carte.

Menu-driven, listening spot of improvised, experimental and electronic music concerts.

VIRTUAL SPACE

During the 37 days of the exhibition the site will house every day a new project from one of the 

37 artists involved, creating a mutant space that grows during the duration of the exhibition. The 

artists invited have different experiences and skills, allowing varied approaches in the use of 

certain tools that, for many of the people involved, are not common.  The site will be taken off 

the www immediately after the last day of the exhibition, on that day every project can be seen.

zdb is a space for programming, promotion and creation of emerging art, a permeable and mutant structure 

that houses projects from different artistic areas. Managed collectively, it exist in Lisbon since 1994 

and it can be divided into the following areas: 

exhibitions - programming of exhibitions of new artistic languages.

zdbmüzique - programming of experimental, improvised, electronic music concerts and other aesthetic 

waves of today, a fundamental space for the presentation of lab projects and projects that interact with 

the public.
